Rationale:
Why multimedia?
So you have the idea to create a multimedia
project. The first question to ask is "why"? Are you
creating the project just because it's cool? Will digital content
enhance or add value to what you are trying to communicate? Do
you have something of value to say that can be said better with
this technology? Are you trying to educate, to inform or to entertain
an audience?
To develop an appropriate and useable
multimedia project, a number of skills , reliable resources,
and a fair amount of time are required. IS IT WORTH THE EFFORT?
Communicators desire to use an approach
that is efficient, effective and enjoyable. Increases in recent
years in various areas have seen the resulting explosion of information.
There is no turning back: the world is going digital! Here are
a few reasons why it's important to be able to communicate digitally
in today's marketplace:
- Diversity- new populations of consumers
seek education, entertainment, and information today
- Variety- today's consumer populations
are increasingly diverse
- Flexibility- today's consumers need
to access info at their own pace, place, and time
- Expectations-today's consumers demand
more resources and interaction
- Changing Nature of knowledge- information
has exploded in the last thirty years
- Competition-multimedia has become a
billion dollar industry- quality is increasing accordingly.
