Questions to ask before prototyping...

A collection of media is meaningless unless there is a way designed to navigate or experience it.. Let's ask somequestions in a checklist form that will help you in prototying your project:

A. Identifying your audience and message.

Buy now you have dealt with some of these issues.

How old is your primary audience?

What kind of experience will they respond to?

Will they be able to understand a subtle interface?

Would they be eager to explore it?

Are they uncomfortable with multimedia and need to have their hands held?

What look and feel would best convey your message?

B. Determine the setting

Where will the user interact with the project?

At home, office, public or private space?

With a desktop pc?

At home interacting with the TV or on the net?

Is it a personal one on one experience or will others be gathered around?

How much time will they spend with the project?

C. Create an experience

will the user go on a journey or just discover by exploring?

Do you want them to feel as if they are taking on a role?

Will they be a part of a conversation?

Will it require a book metaphor or a contestant metaphor?

D. Ergonomics

Will you handle functionality with a navigational bar or menu?

How will the visual design entice the user to interact with it?

What clues or prompts do you need to provide?

What metaphorical models will you use?

Will you provide feedback?

Affordances are little details that tell us what images are and how we should use them- what are yours?

Will you utilize agents guides or characters in your project?
