Intimacy With God

The Christian life is one of relationship. we relate to God, to other believers and the world in a personal way. Relationships require smething of us- we must work hard at relationships. The world is no friend to intimate personal interaction, so we must approach this with commitment and honesty.

Just as with any intimate personal relationship, we must spend time with god to get to know Him. God has not left us to our own devices. His will is not secret. He is there and He is not silent. just as with other relationships, we must seek to know what he likes and dislikes. We need to know what pleases Him. while God does not NEED us, it is to His good pleasure that we have a personal relationship with Him.

If you are in a marriage, you know the value of studying your mate. If we would succed in any other venture, we spend time mastering the material, no matter the discipline. Whay should it be different with relationships? Many people relate to others without knowing the person involved. They try to relate in ways that suit them, not the person in question. Doing the right things in the wrong ways or the wrong times can lead to relational disasters.

Who is this god abnyway? In this lesson we will study God- his nature, his person and character, and what that means to us. We will focus on several key ways in which we are to develop intimacy with God. First we will look at the Cost of Discipleship. God requires that we love him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. What does that mean? Some light can be shed by looking at the parable of the tower. Building a disciple has much in common with this.

Then we will interact about the lesson.

Next, we will begin to look at that very important passage in John 15, the teaching about abiding in the vine. this will show us how to relate to God.

Personal holiness is required to have intimacy with God. God gives us this gift.

God is Triune in nature- what does THAT mean?

Jesus is God- and that changes everything...

The Holy Spirit is God. Are you Under the Influence?

Then another interaction will round out the first section.
