If I Seek the Lord

I don't want to seek power

Or rest in fortresses I might devise

Just let me rest in Jesus hour by Hour

And power through weakness I will realize.

I don't want to seek worldly wisdom

But to seek the source of all who are wise

To let His nature govern my decisions

My mind will be renewed when I realize

That if I seek the Lord the power and wisdom will come

To trade all I could do for what He's already done

To find within me the one I pursue

consumed by all He is as I live and I do

For if I'm seeing myself conformed to His word

My being will be found in my Lord!

I don't want to seek glory-

Humility is what God glorifies

Let my obedience tell all the story

So that all I may touch might now realize

That I don't want to seek riches-

I want His treasure to become my prize

I never want to miss what God teaches

Abased or abounding I must realize

That if I seek the Lord the glory and riches will come

To trade all I could do for what He's already done

To find within me the one I pursue

consumed by all He is as I live and I do

For if I'm seeing myself conformed to His word

My being will be found in my Lord!
