Adam had known goodness

And its fulness as God's friend

But in doubt was deceived and chose to believe

God's grace was not enough for him.

As he bit into forbidden fruit

He knew what before he did not know

As the juice flowed down his arm

To fall into the dust below.

Just as Adam had pierced the fruit

That the Lord God had forbidden

Eyes opened in shame now bearing true blame

He tried to keep it hidden.

The Father's love drove Him to seek

The child that had disobeyed

He clothed Adam in and innocent's skin

And sent him to begin to pay.

So eat of the fruit prepared by His hand

To overcome what God has banned

This bitter fruit of death and sin

Taste and see and begin again!

As three nails bit into the flesh

Like teeth biting into fruit

Once for all time-This living vine

The tree of life gave up its fruit

He attached himself to a tree of death

To become the firstfruits of the dead

The lifeblood of the tree- at Calvary

Like the fruit on which Adam fed!

Like a seed buried in the ground

As He was crucified

Eyes closed in pain now bearing our blame

He breathed once more and died

But the Father's Love drove Him to seek

This Son who had obeyed

He clothed Jesus in His glory again

And in Glory from death He was raised!

Now the angels could one day drop their swords

And the access to Eden's regained

Adam was restored reborn and rewarded

And from death reclaimed!

So eat of the fruit prepared by His hand

To have power to overcome what you understand
