A Tribute to my Spiritual Forbears, those the Lord has used to guide me on THE Journey

I have been moved to pray over each of these by name and feel incredibly humbled by the process. How humbling to have been able to stand shoulder to shoulder and sit at the feet of such disciplers who have unashamedly pointed me continually to Christ! I do not intend to name-drop; I just want to thank God for these individuals' entry and impact on my life. The list is pretty amazing though...God is so good, and we have been privileged to be exposed to some great ministries. But to whom much is given much is required, eh?

My Mom read Bible stories and sang hymns and songs with me and taught me to pray when I was very young; some of my earliest memories derive from this blessing. This formed the foundation for a life of loving the Word of God. My Father set an example by his life to teach me about honesty, diligence, and compassion for others, some of the lessons that have served me well to this day.

Miss Dorothy Armstrong was one of my earliest and most effective Sunday school teachers at Pleasant Grove Baptist church. She instilled a love for memorizing scripture. Miss Dorothy kept check on me via my Mom and whenever I visited PGBC. When you talked to Miss Dorothy, she made you feel you were her favorite person in the world to be talking to. She seemed old when I was a child. She was a widow, but she didn’t seem to change all through the years. She died recently and went to be with the Lord she loved so much.

I remember messages by my earliest pastors. Brother Noah Benningfield was the first pastor I remember. I remember him as gentle and kind, but likely from his ongoing membership at our church after he retired in 1963, when I was seven

In 1963 Brother Owen Risk was called as pastor. I remember hot summer days in the old PGBC church building where he preached. On November 1, 1964, at the resignation of Brother Risk, Brother Roy Boatwright became interim pastor. I remember Dr. Boatwright vivdly, as he liked to perform magic tricks for kids.

In 1965 Brother James Spaulding was called as pastor. I clearly recall Brother Jim’s presence and messages. As a former missionary, he awakened a real connection to missions in me that I had never experienced. God also used him to awaken a sense of sin in me which led to my salvation and Baptism in 1967.

Eula and Shirley Proctor were early teachers as well. Eula was my Sunbeam leader and her husband “Shag” was my Royal Ambassadors leader.

Wendell Romans became my pastor when I was aged fifteen. He was my PASTOR at First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington, KY, , and one of the first men to encourage me to vital ministry. He baptized my dear wife and eventually performed our marriage ceremony as well.

At Mt. Washington, Derle Underwood and Ken Bailey were my youth pastors. Derle introduced me to C. S. Lewis and discipleship, and Kenny showed me that you could be responsible and have joy at the same time....and he introduced me to Earnie! Ron Collins was like a surrogate big brother to me, giving advice and guidance in matters concerning a young man’s journey. He guided, encouraged, and formed my experience in music ministry.

When we were married, Earnie and I went off to college together, some of the first wilderness wanderings we experienced. We had no great church experience in college. I am grateful for Don Youn’g ministry of the word at bible Baptist in Paducah, and for my introduction to Christian radio.

When we graduated and went to Caruthersville , Missouri, we became dependent on Chuck Swindoll’s new ministry Insight for Living, and listened to and supported Charles Stanley and John Macarthur’s radio ministries. We soaked our minds in the scriptures under these ministries.

In Memphis we sojourned awhile under Adrian Rogers’ preaching at Belleview Baptist, but left for First Evangelical church when Duane Litfin was pastor there. Earnie and I experienced exponential growth under his powerful preaching and were exposed to incredible speakers from the evangelical world at large. D. James Fleming and Roy Hendrick were associate pastors who we learned from there as well. Some men we sat at the feet of during that time in seminars and teaching times:

Joe Aldrich
Jim Boice
Joseph Stowell
R. C. Sproul
Haddon Robinson
Bill Bright
Earl Radmacher
Warren Wiersbe

While at Mid America Seminary I had the following professors:

Dr. Larry Walker, Old Testament Scholar and one who encouraged me to keep in step with current events in Christendom
Dr. Tom Nettles, whose love for Church History inspired me to read deeply.
Dr. Grey Allison, whose passion for evangelism was infective.

In Dallas, we continued to be exposed to what God was doing in the world at large.
Dr. Gary Inrig was our teaching pastor at Reinhardt Bible Church. Our Sunday School Teacher was Dr. Ray Bohlin, who is now with Probe Ministries. Pastor Ned Amstutz encouraged our ministry leadership potential as well. Dr. John Walvoord taught regularly. This church had a wealth of seminary professors who were also churchmen we grew to know and respect including.

Ken Barker
Eugene Merrill
John Hannah
Harold Hoehner
Robert Lightner
John Martin
Richard Seume
Norm Sonju
Don Geiger
Charles Feinberg
Larry Moyer
Harold Ockenga
Roy Zuck
John Reed

At Northwest Bible Church we had Dr. Howard Clark as pastor. We were in Kirby Anderson’s Sunday school class. We attended Dr. Don Campbell’s classes as well.

During our time there we also attended seminars with Philip Yancey, two Ligonier conferences with Sproul, John Piper, Chuck Colson, Os Guinness, Steve Brown, John Gerstner and Sinclair Ferguson.

We regularly attended classes taught by Dr. Bill Lawrence and were privileged to attend sessions by Bruce Waltke, Don Sunukjian, Jim Rose, Darrell Bock, Larry Moyer, and Luis Palau.

Tom Moton, a DTS graduate whom I worked with at SMU taught me much about being God’s man in the world and not of it. He could turn a conversation to Christ with such facility that it was supernatural. Thomas and I prayed together and discussed the Lord regularly. I needed encouragement during that time and Thomas was sent like an angelos.

Local teachers we heard regularly included Bob Deffinbaugh and Gene Getz at Community Bible Church, Tony Evans, Chuck Swindoll, Howard Hendricks, Paige Patterson, Monty Mills, at DTS grad who taught the Bible Study at Highland Park UMC, and of course, Paige Patterson and W. A. Criswell (we lived one street over from the Criswells, not far from Criswell College. W. A. married Betty Harris, a cousin of mine and the pianist of the Mount Washington Baptist Church where he pastored while in seminary at SBTS. Years before I was born, of course.)

Dr. Bob Palmer, a former VP of Covenant Seminary became our Pastor. He was a great encourager on the road. So was Charlie Cobb, our associate pastor. Through Bob and Gloria, we were introduced to the ministries of Frank Barker, Nick Barker of Covenant College and Bryan Chappell on occasions. Several of our members at New Covenant PCA were founders and sustainers of diverse ministries and we were exposed to people like J. I. Packer and Jim Kennedy through these contacts that the Lord exposed us to. We were embraced and encouraged in this situation by great saints like Forrest and Richie Bryant, Clark and Edith Breeding,, Duke and Ruth Cornell (reformed University Fellowship et. al.), and Bill and Judy Abbott. We were in Clark's Bible Study. He like others took us under their wing and encouraged us in ministry. God blessed us incredibly through humble saints who were without guile.

It is important to mention that that great encourager, teacher and all around great guy and brother in Christ, Larry Gott, was my teaching elder at NCPC. Our friendship endures via the net and I continue to learn from him! Larry is currently Sinclair Ferguson’s pinch hitter/ co- teacher for a class at Park Cities Pres in Dallas.

When we moved to St. Louis, Wilson Benton teaching pastor and Mike Williams was our SS teacher at Kirk of the Hills PCA. We attended Twin Oaks Pres for a short while where Rodney Stortz was pastor. At Covenant Seminary I took courses under Dr. Jack Collins, Jerram Barrs and Dr. Robert Vasholz, and seminars with John Wolford, Jim Ingram of Swiss L’Abri and Joel Belz of World Magazine. We have been privileged to hear John Piper on several occasions for extended teaching times. Tony Casoria tsaught us for a time at Center Grove PCA .

When my Dad died, we returned to the SBC. We had a curious journey at a Baptist church where we were members five years while seeing every pastor we bonded with leave the church in succession, until we felt the call to be led out ourselves. I am glad to have served with Mark Fischer who is now pastor of FBC Hialeah, Fla., Dave Roderick and Fred Rippeto, pastors of Epic Church.

We happily learned from Steve Rogier as he taught us at Community Bible Church while we looked for a place to call home and searched to define what God was stirring us up to do.

Since the first of 2004 we have been privileged to be at Bethel Baptist Church, Troy, Illinois, and Tim Lewis in my pastor. He has been an encourager par excellance. We found our answers to our future direction for ministry at this Bethel.

AT SBTS, I have studied with Dr. Steve Wellum and Dr. Bruce Ware so far.

Such a great cloud of witnesses! To all of you, many of whom I expect to never see again this siide of heaven, and to many who are still influencing our lives via the recorded and written word, my thanks and God’s blessings to you. What a mighty God we serve, who is pleased to nurture and provide for us through His people.

August 30, 2005 Meditations from the Road

Studying theology is an entry into meditation- one cannot happen, truly, wthout the other. So while I cogitate on my studies, hopefully the affections will be impacted. If not, I'll end up smelling like seminary. Here's this week's offerings.

Meditating of Psalm 1, Psalm 19 and 2 Timothy 3-4 this week, Iwas blessed to experience some of the "best-est" sunsets in a long while- corresponding to God's first book in Psalm 19.

Awestruck

In the sunset I saw a great city rising up from the horizon line
I stopped by the road the sight was so pretty and let it wash over my mind
Then I watched as the sun sank so quickly and lit up the skies with its fire
And I thought of the burning in my bones that lights up my deepest desire.

I am awestruck, awestruck dancing like a child in the light
I am awestruck, awestruck, Falling on my face and lifted to new heights
There are no words that will ever suffice
There is no treasure at any price
But the realms of glory tell the story
And in awe we respond with delight!

I saw the day dawn in the sunrise and saw how fast darkness can flee
I wondered at light you can’t see with the eye and remembered it rising in me
I watched as it rose in the distance and saw it wash over the Earth
I saw how it met no resistance like grace when it sparks a new birth
You display all your glory around me
In the earth in the seas in the skies
But the glory you show in believers
Is a sight that can’t be seen with mere eyes.

I am awestruck, awestruck dancing like a child in the light
I am awestruck, awestruck, Falling on my face and lifted to new heights
There are no words that will ever suffice
There is no treasure at any price
But the realms of glory tell the story
And in awe we respond with delight!

To the Honor of your Glory

You, you are the mighty Lord
You are worthy to be adored
Lord you are our priceless pearl
Giving yourself for the sin of the world.
Of this good news we sing
Our praises now we bring
To the honor of your glory evermore!
To the honor of your glory
We declare your terrible power
And marvelous worth
To the honor of your glory
We will stand and declare
Your glory in all of the Earth
Lord you are the matchless King
Sovereign and creator of all things
Lord to your will we ever would yield
In the light of your glory the truth is revealed!
To the honor of your glory
We declare your terrible power
And marvelous worth
To the honor of your glory
We will stand and declare
Your glory in all of the Earth
To the honor of your glory
We declare your terrible power
And marvelous worth
To the honor of your glory
We will stand and declare
Your glory in all of the Earth

Will I love You?

Will I love You... When the night seems to replace the day
Will I love You... When it seems your face has turned away?
Will I love You... When nothing seems to go my way?

Do I serve you with a feeble heart
Do I run and hide and fall apart
Will I reckon your promises to be enough-
Will I find sufficiency in Holy Love?

Will I trust you...when there seems to be no hope in sight?
Will I trust you...when darkness obscures my light?
Will I trust you...to help me fight the worthy fight?

Will I appropriate
Your grace and on You wait
Will I soar with wings like eagles fly above?
Will I persevere to the end in Your love?

Will I love You... Will I trust you...
Will I love You... Will I trust you...
Will I love You... Will I trust you...
Will I love You... Will I trust you...

King Jesus, Ride On!

King Jesus ride on!
Ride on the clouds
We hear the trumpet call
It’s blowing so loud

King Jesus ride on
May your kingdom come
Ride on in your splendor
And may your will be done

King Jesus ride on
And in glory ride
This earth is your footstool
Stand on the mountainside

Ride on King Jesus no man will hinder thee
Rid on King Jesus Ride on to victory

Well you ride in from the eastern skies
You ride on as we see the sun rise
You ride on like a rolling tide
And you judge this earth as you ride

Ride on to victory
Come Lord Jesus come!
No man will hinder thee
Your will shall be done!

So ride on King Jesus
Ride on King Jesus Ride
And that’s one ride we wanna see
Ride on king Jesus
Ride on to victory

Auditorium

You put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise unto Our god
Many will see and many will hear and put their trust in the Lord.
Sing a new song sing a hymn of praise
Sing it all day long, sing it all your days
Sing a new song and many will see and many will hear
They’ll put their trust in the Lord when you make it clear.
So we will lift up our songs and we shall sing out loud and clear
We shall listen for the echo in the hearts of those who hear.
They shall resonate in our innermost arts
In the secret, in the sacred
Auditorium of our hearts
For you oh Lord are the audience, to you alone we sing
You are the song’s composer So you provide our offering!

Living by your Name

Early in the Morning At the dawning of the light
As the dewdrops just are forming Lord your holy word breaks on my sight.
In the stillness of the twilight in the quietness of my soul
Lord you stoke the fires and they burn bright For I’ve reached my daily goal.
To walk within your presence and to stand before you clean
At days end just as when it begins-Then I’ll know what this day really means
That to stand within your presence, Holy , without blame
And I live beneath my privilege if I’m not living by your name
When my days on earth are over and I stand before your throne
I pray the Lord won’t have to uncover sins I have not even known
So as I bow within my closet in this quiet holy time
Purify my heart so I won’t forget this day is not even mine.
I’ll walk within your presence and stand before you clean
At days end just as when it begins-Then I’ll know what this day really means
That to stand within your presence, Holy , without blame
And I live beneath my privilege if I’m not living by your name

We declare Your goodness, We declare your name
We declare Your truth we trust, righteous and just
From age to age the same!

We proclaim it everywhere
Your glory we declare

It’s not about us

All of our worship is all about you
All of our worship and all that we do
We will not focus on any other thing
We’re all dedicated to One righteous King

It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
Jesus is Lord of All!
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
Jesus is Lord of All!

In one hope and faith we all stand and unite
In one baptism One God and Father of Light
One church, one body One life on this earth
Given by One Spirit who gives us new Birth

It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
It’s not about us, it’s about Jesus
Jesus is Lord of All!

For in through and to you are all things Oh Lord
You are the reason for every chord
Our songs and our prayers and our praises are yours
We have one purpose- it remains and endures!

Turning, Turning

I turn my face from the world and have no regrets
I turn my face away and I want to forget
All I’m turning from and
Remember what I’m turning to.
I’m turning from...I’m turning to...
What I’m turning from...what I’m turning to...
I turn away from the ways of the world
When I turn to you.
There’s nothing much left for me now in this world
Since I’ve turned more and more like you
I would turn away from longings
For the things this world can offer me
Turn away from all the things that belong
To the pride that seeks to master me
I’ll turn away from my worldly way
You told me in your word what I should do
I will cease to cling to what I have turned from-
And pursue what I have turned to.
For I have a path and a light that lights my way
And I will ever take that path, I’ll never go astray
All I have known and all I have seen
All I have shown and all I have been
I’m turning from these to a much better dream
A dream of deliverance, much more than it seems.
I turn my face from the world and have no regrets
I turn my face away and I want to forget
All I’m turning from and
Remember what I’m turning to.
I’m turning from...I’m turning to...
What I’m turning from...what I’m turning to...

Utter Surrender

We need to leave more than we know behind
We would give it all over to you
In full and complete surrender
To turn from our way to the way that is true.
To learn to be dependent, to give up on my strife
As needy as I was at birth
A martyr to this old man, live a consecrated life
An alien and stranger to this earth.
Open every window, open very door
I would hold no place reserved from the presence of My Lord
I will trust in You alone for all that you have done
In absolute devotion- to the Holy One
To serve the one who came not to be served
I will settle in His presence for I am only dust
In utter surrender all my motives unreserved
Even though he slay me yet in Him I will trust.

Come Just as You Are

Come Just as You Are, all your burdens on Christ cast
Bow before His throne, he knows your future and your past
Come and lay bare your heart in this time and place
He knows your very need of his amazing, amazing grace.
Come Just as You Are, there’s no other course to take
We shall ne’er deserve, there’s no change that we can make
Come and receive him now- His gift embrace
He’ll meet your very need of His amazing, amazing grace.
Come Just as You Are, His hand is reaching out for you
Hear the Spirit’s call, let his Holy Love break through
He know your very heart- he seeks your face
He knows your very need of His amazing, amazing grace
Of His amazing, amazing grace.

The Holy Harvest

We prepared the soil and we sow the seeds
We cultivate the garden and cut down all the weeds
We water the tender shoots and god gives the increase
And when we harvest to good fruit let the rejoicing never cease!
And the harvest is ready and white are the fields
Let’s gather the good grain the latter rain yields
For from the good soil is the bounty released
So gather the harvest and prepare for the feast!
The holy harvester gathers his gain
For he raised the crop and he sent the rain
He sends the seasons and gathers his grain
For his is the harvest and he never reaps in vain.
And the harvest is ready and white are the fields
Let’s gather the good grain the latter rain yields
For from the good soil is the bounty released
So gather the harvest and prepare for the feast!

Cry Holy, Cry Worthy!

The burning bush of your holy word
Is in our hands today
Rising up rising up to proclaim
Our hands are lifted up
We pass around the cup
The cup of deliverance
The cup of your mercy.
We pass around the bread
And by it we are fed
The bread of your body
This bread of affliction.
Lord we remember
All the things you have done
You were lifted up
And our salvation it was won!
We cry Holy, we cry Holy
Worthy is the lamb that was slain
We cry worthy
We cry holy
We remember the name above all names
And we are never the same!
Lord we remember
All the things you have done
You were lifted up
And our salvation it was won!
We cry Holy, we cry Holy
Worthy is the lamb that was slain
We cry worthy
We cry holy
We remember the name above all names
And we are never the same!

Amazing Pity

Amazing Pity, mercy divine
Is yours and it’s mine and it’s free.
Amazing pity mercy sweet
Is found at Jesus’ feet.
As we bow there, our sins we declare
He is righteous and just to forgive
At his footstool we become love’s fools
And we’re cleansed and made pure
W hen he meets us there
So we shall live, yes we shall live!
Amazing pity grace unknown
Restores our hearts when we come
As we bow down our life is found
In this place where we are undone.
Cleansed from all unrighteousness
Cleansed, His holy name we confess
To stand without fault in this place
As we stand in His marvelous grace.
Amazing pity Mercy’s cup
Is poured out when He’s lifted up
Amazing pity we receive
When Jesus allows us to believe.
Amazing Pity, mercy divine
Is yours and it’s mine and it’s free.
Amazing pity mercy sweet
Is found at Jesus’ feet.

Waiting for a Sign

It’s so blessed not to ask for a sign
For those who ask must also seek
To continue to be watchful
And never rest when they grow weak
Fitfully awaiting
The advent of the sign
And miss the one it signifies
Blinded and left behind.
So evil and adulterous
Is the people who requires
To walk by sight and not by faith
They drown in dead desires.
We ask and seek and knock for more
Wondrous works and signs
We should seek the great designer
Who said seek and you will find.

In the Light (the Blessed Light)

Fault is so easy to find yet to our own faults we are blind
Will we ever see things aright?
We want to go our way but we want others to pay
Will we ever walk in the light
In the light the mystery is revealed
All our delusions to this light must yield
In the light the blessed light
We see with true insight
In the light there is nothing concealed.
To know oneself is to be blessed
For then our sins can be confessed
Will our estimation ever be right?
If we know how dark we are
We can be as shining stars
Speaking the truth in love in the light.
In the light we see The darkness flee
From the blackness of our hearts we are set free
In the light, in the blessed light
We see our broken wicked plight
When glory burns blinded eyes shall see
We are in the light
Children of delight
Placed in the fires of glory burning bright
Set ablaze by the burning gaze
Of the blessed holy sight
Christ is the world’s only light!
Undeserving and blind, depraved in our mind
Yet god has called us out
Into his marvelous light called us out from our night
He has saved us from sin and from doubt
He has called us so he draws us
And he saves us by his might
He has called us out of darkness
To exult in His marvelous light.

Be Merciful to Me

Heaven declares the work of your hands
No power can compare and your promise stands
So in the hands of the Living god I would find my rest
For in his hands of mercy there alone will I be blessed.
Into your hands I commit my spirit and my soul
Lift up your hand oh Lord in sovereign control
And humble me under your mighty right hand
So I can be lifted up according to your plan!
In His hands is my sufficiency
So Jesus touch me now- be merciful to me!
In your hands I am set free
Jesus hold me now- be merciful to me!
The hands that formed my very life
Have touched the winds of space and time
The hands that knit me in the womb
Made these mountains I must climb
In His hands is my sufficiency
So Jesus touch me now- be merciful to me!
In your hands I am set free
Jesus hold me now- be merciful to me!

Insatiable

There is a mighty fountain that forever flows
It cuts its way through every mountain as it goes
The fountain purges clean this land as through the hills it sweeps
The fountain’s ever running- this fountain never sleeps
This is the holy fountain from whom all blessings flow
To which all my life and every good thing I owe
Let your water flow over this dry and thirsty land
So we can taste and touch with our hearts what you have planned.
Insatiable another drink we crave
Insatiable to taste and see all that you gave
The more we drink deeply the more that we desire
Lord drench our dust and quench our thirst with the water we require.
The fountain slakes the thirsty heart as into the parched ground it seeps
The fountain’s name is Jesus and this fountain never sleeps!
Insatiable another drink we crave
Insatiable to taste and see all that you gave
The more we drink deeply the more that we desire
Lord drench our dust and quench our thirst with the water we require

Happy in Jesus

I don’t want the world’s way 'cause the worldly way shall pass
If you’re happy in the wrong things your happiness can’t last.
Blessed is the man who doesn’t live by the world’s plan
In the path of the sinner he does not stand.
In the seat of the mocker he does not sit
But the law of the Lord- he takes delight in it!
Happy in Jesus is the only way to go
Happy in Jesus, satisfied to know
A joy deep within my soul that will never depart
To be happy in Jesus you need Jesus in your heart.
Happy in my purpose, I’ll be a happy man
If I’m happy with my mission happy in God’s plan.
Happy in Jesus is the only way to go
Happy in Jesus, satisfied to know
A joy deep within my soul that will never depart
To be happy in Jesus you need Jesus in your heart.

Psalm 1

Only One Heart

I have only one heart
And only so much can be written there
I would reserve it for what you have prepared
Make it ready to receive the word you’d write
Make ready my heart
Make it a tablet clean and holy
May I reserve it Lord for only
The very words you would cite
In that innermost part
The recesses of my heart
Where it shall host your mercy’s source
Now write your message Lord so clear
So that I can’t help but hear
I know it will sustain me on my course.

In the silence alone
Let me read what you would write
Sustain me like a beacon burning bright
Lord write your message on the tablet of my heart
So purify my heart
The lines the world has written erase
And put your decrees in their place
And the wisdom of your Word impart
If I would be renewed
Transformed by holy food
I must feast upon the things that you require
If I would find your way
I must meditate on it night and day
And then I will find I have my heart’s desire.

The tomato slice above is from a 'mater Mary Caldwell gave me- she grows 'em good. This one didn't make it to my BLT...check out the cross in the vine-pulp...

WWWWWH

Well I don’t know when this life is over,
And I don’t know why this life began
But I know there’s someone
Cause someone had to come up with this plan.
Well I don’t know how this life will work out
And I don’t know where I’m goin’ to
Well I don’t know much for sure
But I know it’s wrapped up in the Who.

And Who God is makes all the difference
Who He is makes it make sense
If Who we have to do with
Is the one who takes up our defense.

If You really want to know the answers
To the what and when and where and why
This world sings like a song and we’re the dancers
We’ll be dancing to some tune until we die
For the when is now . the where is here
The what is life and Christ is how.
He’s the one who bottles every tear
He’s the one we come before and bow.

And Who God is makes all the difference
Who He is makes it make sense
If Who we have to do with
Is the only one we won’t need to convince.

True Truth

If it is it is- if it’s not it’s not
This is the truth ---that time forgot.
Yet we live in days where the truth’s not true
And contradictions are the reigning view.

But God’s Truth is True and it every stands
Though life’s a vapor and shifts like the sands
There’s a Living Word, a rock that’s real
It reigns through Time, and It’s been revealed.

We proclaim this Truth and we live this Way
Our life is found in Him today.
Don’t reject this word nor His truth deny
For the Truth shall set you free from the lie.

All the Horses

All the horses all the chariots
All the weapons known to man
All will fail but His power will prevail
By the strength of His mighty right hand.

It’s not against flesh and blood, but rulers in high places
The prince of the power of the air brings havoc raining down
It’s not the rulers of this world that the soldier of Christ faces
That’s not where the strongholds of the enemy are to be found.

It’s not by power it’s not by might
But in the name of the Lord we fight the good fight
The battle is the Lord’s though the enemy attacks us
His Holy Spirit backs us and leads us forth

In the name of the Lord we will have the final victory
When He consummates all history
And leads His people forth in the name of the Lord!
