August 21, 2007 Break Time OVER

Just a passing fad...

...in Shepherdsville at least. As a result of my unscientific poll where I counted the number of cars that actually signalled when exiting I-65 at Shepherdsville along with me (I did not count my own signalling) over a period of a week, I found that 47 drivers did not signal, and three did. That is 94 percent on the lawlessness scale.

Sounds about right. I am going to count the number of trailers I encounter hauling crud down I-65 next , at least to determine how many do not have brakes or signal lights wired to their rigs as they go merrily along dropping junk as they go. I saw a sofa on the side of the road coming home today that had fallen off.

Curriculum

A thousand miles of detours took me so far from You
A thousand deeds of darkness proved that I was untrue
A thousand disappointments are filling me with grief
A thousand doubts seek to destroy any semblance of belief.
All the sideroads, all the choices
Listening to a thousand voices
The chaos of competing views
Invested in us soon come due.
A thousand years of solitude couldn’t make me miss you more
I stand so far away from you on some far distant shore.
A thousand strong excuses confuse my double mind
For a thousand glimpses of your glory had driven me half blind.
So give me one ear to hear
One eye to see
One mouth to speak
To eternity.
For though I’m lost and so far away
The miles are covered in a moment when I pray.
A thousand points of promise giving rise to hope anew
A thousand signs of grace have made me wonder if its true
And a thousand words of witness transformation have revealed
A thousand balms of Gilead have rendered my soul healed.
So give me one ear to hear
One eye to see
One mouth to speak
To eternity.
For though I’m lost and so far away
The miles are covered in a moment when I pray.

Whiter than snow.

I hear your call to turn
And in your presence to draw near
For restoration I now yearn
And the call to repentance is ringing in my ear

Whiter than snow
Cleaners than a living stream that flows
Purer than the fire’s warm glow
I am washed from guilt and shame
Whiter than snow,
Unspotted and unstained
Unblemished and unsullied
In your eyes I will remain
Whiter than snow.

Let the waters of my life flow clear
Clear and clean before the Lord I stand
Agreeing with His will and way
Taking comfort in that chastising hand.
Of the One who takes my sin away
And casts it into the deepest sea
And in that Sea of Forgetfulness
I find I am set free.
I’m so sorry my heart breaks
Devastated for God’s sake
And falling on that Rock I am set free

Whiter than snow
Cleaners than a living stream that flows
Purer than the fire’s warm glow
I am washed from guilt and shame
Whiter than snow,
Unspotted and unstained
Unblemished and unsullied
In your eyes I will remain
Whiter than snow.
