...thoughts expressed here are not necessarily final.

May 19, 2005 Hiatus continues

I have not been blogging as much as I have been prepping for a major jo interview. Noting new, really, just reminding myself of what I have been up to for the last eight years and updating the old portfolio... Now that summer is on the way, there should be much mirth and dialogue with Revenge of the Sith, War of the Worlds, Fantastic Four, and Narnia just around the corner...

Organizers of the first-ever Global Day of Prayer (GDP) are calling on Christians in the United States to be unified in persistent prayer leading up to the worldwide gathering this Sunday. Activities from Reunion Arena in Dallas will broadcast live on Sky Angel (www.skyangel.com) from 4 to 7 p.m. Central time, enabling believers to gather in homes, churches, colleges and other venues to take part via satellite, Assist News Service reported. Besides TV broadcasts, GDP, which will be observed in 175 nations and had its genesis in South Africa four years ago, will be on radio and Internet simulcast. For more information, visit www.GlobalDayofPrayer.com.

More than 12,000 people gathered in Reunion Arena May 15 as part of the Global Day of Prayer, aimed at uniting believers on four continents across racial, social and denominational lines. Former Southern Baptist Convention President Jack Graham of Prestonwood Baptist Church in nearby Plano joined T.D. Jakes, pastor of The Potter's House in Dallas, in leading the North American portion of the worldwide event. Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., and Tony Evans of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas were among additional leaders who gathered to lead in prayer.

The Classic Middle Name that I didn't know I owned.

* And a Classic Middle Name Special: In April, in New Scotland, N.Y., Jean Balashek, 86, was found murdered, and police charged her daughter, Corianna Thompson, with the crime. Thompson's birth name was Corey Wayne Balashek, and before his sex change, he had served nine years for another killing. (Thus, Thompson/Balashek may be the first American ever charged with homicide in both genders.) [Times Union (Albany, N.Y.), 4-12-05]
