February 20, 2006 Not Much News

We worshipped at Neil and Elaines' church on Sunday.

It is a newly formed church that has no pastor yet. I had been contacted previously about perhaps filling the pulpit, and I wanted to discern the spirits. I attended the morning service and heard the speaker who is helping out.

Earnie went to seminary to check on jobs, housing, and a women's ministry night, as well as just getting away for a couple of days at the seminary Legacy Center. I joined her Friday evening after work at Mom's. I had to do some research for my upcoming writing session at the SBTS Library on Saturday.

I learned that John Piper had his prostate removed. Seems he is doing well.

I 'm glad Earnie is home. We're about to settle in for a Hercule Poirot video.

We Will Walk

We will walk by faith
In the deepness and darkness of night
We will stand by grace
Till I learn to walk in the light.
For the walk and the way you make known
Yes, you show us the way to go home.
We will walk by faith
We will walk till my faith is made sight.
We will go without knowing the cost and the need.
Your glory is showing on the path where you lead.
We will go while we're sowing your sanctified seed.
We will walk by faith,
We will walk until faith is made sight.
While the storm clouds are growing I'll walk step by step.
Through the dangers around me  To the place where I'm kept.
We will walk by faith,
We will walk until faith is made sight.
As we live in the light of the unseen
We will e're sing the song to the redeemed.
We will walk by faith,
We will walk until faith is made sight.
We will walk with assurance that Christ leads
I will walk with endurance as He intercedes.
We will walk by faith,
We will walk until faith is made sight.
Will we walk down the path that is narrow and straight?
Where we never look back, where we walk while we wait.
Walking where saints before us have trod
Keep in step with the spirit of God?
We will walk by faith,
We will walk until faith is made sight.
We will walk by faith,
We will walk for our wrong is made right
In the light as our Lord's in the light,
We will walk by the power of His might!

Make do with More

We are chosen by His grace
We are aliens and strangers in this place
But as we sojourn
For our home we will yearn
And we will make do with more if we will discern.
Let us make do with more
Until our Lord returns.
We live beneath our privilege
We live upon a razor's edge.
For our desires are not too big
They are far too small
We are far too easily pleased
This side of the fall.
When endless joy is ours to be received
All the blessedness of heaven
If we believe!
Let us Make do with more,
Living our privilege we were intended for
The depths of His riches we will explore
When we learn we can make do with more.
We have not because we ask not
He will not give a stone to his own.
For His sake we yearn and ache
To display the ways in which we’re blessed.
Why would we want to live with less?
We will live the purpose we were created for
To God’s glory we will make do with more.

Jesus Is His Name!

Oh Lord I praise you for you have saved me
The bonds are broken and I am set free!
Lord I praise you for your word is true
Lord praise you for cleansing me!
Lord I praise you for I'm forgiven
And I will ever be the same!
Lord I will love you while I am living
I will praise and lift up your name!
I will tell the world that Yahweh saves
I proclaim the name that opens graves
For this name the path to heaven paves
And Jesus is that name!
Lord I love you for you first loved me
Gave your life when I was your enemy
Yes there's a sacrifice that sets me free
And Jesus is your name
I will worship Christ the Lamb that roared
Though He died He arose to be adored
He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
And Jesus is His name!

Hope of Glory, Hidden in Christ

Hope of Glory, hidden in Christ
Hope of Glory your way has sufficed.
The only hope, the only seal
The only way that you have revealed
Is for Christ in Us to make himself known.
There is no hope of glory but you alone
Hope of Glory placed in your name
Hope of Glory,
Spotless, without blame
Holy hope of Glory we proclaim
We in Christ, Christ in Us
In this alone  is our trust
As we dance from dust to dust,
You ever remain.
For in Christ we are found
From age to age the same.
He became like us  So we'll be like Him
He was made  for us To become sin.
So when all is done We can become
The righteousness of God In Him!
Hope of glory, Now we begin
Hope off glory Beginning and end
To know the story and tell it again
Jesus died  And rose again to conquer sin.

Lord our God

We praise you Lord our God!
We praise you Lord our God!
We praise you Lord our God!
We praise you Lord our God!
Praise god from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above you heavenly hosts,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Lord our God, you are holy,
Lord our God, you are mighty
Lord have mercy, hear our prayers!
You are worthy an able
Now we come to your table
And wee leave there our burdens and all our cares
We praise you Lord our God!
We praise you Lord our God!
We praise you Lord our God!
We praise you Lord our God!

Oh, Trumpet of Jesus

Oh trumpet of Jesus we would hear your song
With rapture you'll seize us before very long.
Oh trumpet of Jesus come call forth your bride
We would hear the sound
So Jesus come soon, we'll dance to your tune
And fly to your side!
Oh trumpet of Jesus, we would hear you blow.
We long for your music, we're longing to go!
When we hear that trumpet, ah, we won't be surprised,
So come quickly Lord, let us hear that chord
From the eastern skies!
I want to be ready, I want to be right
My walk will be steady and I'll set my sights
Upon the horizon, I'll feel my hear burn
In anticipation
Of Jesus' return.
And now I'm a stranger and alien on earth
I'll pray through the danger for all that I'm worth.
I pray that he'll use me right now and right here
I'll pray that he'll use me
And He won't refuse me
When He shall appear.
Oh trumpet of Jesus we would hear your call.
Our hearts full of rapture
As on our knees we fall.
Oh trumpet of Jesus we would hear your sound
And we'll meet you there
Right up in the air
As You're coming down
Oh trumpet now play and take us away
To heaven we're bound!

More Sure Word

I will make a covenant with my eyes
To take care of all that I see
And in all my choices I would beware
To seek the truth that sets me free.

I will make a covenant with my heart
That it beat for you alone
And with each evening just as at the start
I will know and make you known.

Lord keep me pure and make me secure
In the hope of your more sure word.
Lord guard my ears and settle my fears
As I meditate on what I have heard.

Lord place your more sure word within me now
So all that I say will be true.
In my testimony and my vows
Lord I would honor you.

Lord I would honor You
Lord I would honor You
With my heart and soul
And strength and mind
Lord I would honor You!

Lord I would honor You
Lord I would honor You
As your more sure word
To my heart you bind,
Lord I would honor You!

Lord keep me pure and make me secure
In the hope of your more sure word.
Lord guard my ears and settle my fears
As I meditate on what I have heard.
Lord place your more sure word within me now
So all that I say will be true.
In my testimony and my vows
Lord I would honor you.

Lord I would honor You
Lord I would honor You
With my heart and soul
And strength and mind
Lord I would honor You!

Lord I would honor You
Lord I would honor You
As your more sure word
To my heart you bind,
Lord I would honor You!

Passion Lives On!

The mountains may crumble and fall into the sea
The mighty will be humbled, the warrior will bend the knee
And kings will fade from memory but when they are dead and gone
But while God lives we shall ever see- that passion lives on.

Passion for Jesus Passion for Souls
To bring them together Is our ultimate goal.

The cities of the nations shall pass
The armies will blow away.
Their fame and fortunes never last
Their plans ands schemes shall not stay
The transient and the manmade
Just like the fleeting dawn
The grass withers and the flower fades
But God's word lingers on.
And His word burns like a fire
Engulfs our hearts and minds
Until our one discrete desire
In Jesus we shall find

Passion for Jesus Passion for Souls
Passion that burns like smoldering coals
They fuel our fires and purify our aims
Until every desire is consumed by the flame

Tried and True

God is so great and we are so small,
We are broken people one and all
But we are restored and we are made new
When we trust in the One who is tried and true.
He is god Most High so we bow low
He has revealed all we should know
He brings His glory into view
So we trust in the One who is tried and true.
For every test that we may fail
There His grace and mercy shall prevail
We have become the chosen few
We who trust in the One who is tried and true.
Though our methods and our madness
Will take us off the path
Still we are filled with gladness
For we shall not bear god’s wrath.
God measures every vacant mile
He has traveled through every trial
And He does what he said he would do
We trust in the One who is tried and true.

The Treasure and the Truth

When I was wandering
Lost and alone in darkest night
You sought and saved me,
Showed me the way to walk in light
When I was hopeless
You paid the price to give me faith
Now I will follow
Enter into the Holy Place.
For now all things are changed And are made new
My life is rearranged living in you.
Oh blessed hope who casts out fear
You are the treasure and the truth that we pursue here.
You alone can provide the Living proof
And You alone can be our treasure and our Truth.
Oh treasure beyond measure
Oh Truth that sets us free,
May we live to your good pleasure
May we die with integrity.
Oh in our waning twilight days
As in the days of our youth
Let us never cease to give you praise
You are the treasure and the Truth.

Jacob’s Stairway

You know there is a stairway
The angels can traverse
That leads from on high in the heavens
It reaches down to earth.
You know that distance is eternal
It transcends both time and space
Between the holy and the infernal
There is no resting place.
So climb the stairway
Climb if you dare
There is no other pathway
There is no other stair.
You know Jesus is the stairway
He alone can take you there.

You've got a Faithful Friend

The Lord who spoke the Universe knows me better than anyone else
If I could know Him as I am known, I would be a man of great wealth
Cause a man who has a faithful friend is rich beyond compare
There's just no knowing what we miss if we don't have someone to care.
There is a friend that is true to the end
If we learn to depend on him each day
Without that friend I could not comprehend
The means to see me through this way
Yes there's a friend that sticks closer than a brother
And He'll see you through to the end
And you don't have too much to worry about
If you've got a faithful friend.
So don't  go it alone in the trenches of life
You weren't meant to  navigate all the strife
Cast your burdens on  him and cast on him your cares
He is the burden bearer so your burden he will bear.
There is a friend that is true to the end
If we learn to depend on him each day
Without that friend I could not comprehend
The means to see me through this way
Yes there's a friend that sticks closer than a brother
And He'll see you through to the end
And you don't have too much to worry about
If you've got a faithful friend.

One Heart at a Time

One heart at a time that this world has been designed
And by one heart at a time the battle's won.
By one heart at a time God's redeeming plan will find
It's full expression  and God's will is done.
For it's one heart at a time God remakes us in His image
And it's one heart at a time that we come to look like Christ
One heart at a time in the renewal of each mind
That a man becomes a living sacrifice.
Oh we battle not against flesh and blood
But in the power of the Lord.
We can never be strong enough
And we could never afford
All the strength it takes to change our world
But it was finished on the cross.
So men are bought back from slavery
Our redeemer saves the lost.
For it's one heart at a time he came to seek and save us
And one heart at a time he delivered and forgave us
So one heart at a time  will come to that place and time
Where we realize we cannot pay the cost.
One heart at a time.

Wondrous Love

Wondrous love, this gift of grace
Wondrous love, our stony hearts replace
With a love that sacrifices for God's glory, for our good.
And  from God alone it comes it's understood.
By such wondrous love as this I am devastated
For such love transfigures lives and we're undone.
For this love rent the veil that my heart had consecrated
And o'er my worldly willful mind the victory's won.
Such wondrous love as this is the true treasure
Every other kind of love will pale beside
This love that shows compassion without measure
Runs like a raging  river- it's as deep as it is wide.
Wondrous love shall e're be mine
It shall transform all that it finds
We'll demonstrate the wonders of
This wonderful and winsome wondrous love.
Wondrous love, our souls embrace
Wondrous love, the gift of grace
Oh this love reveals the maker and the lover of our souls
Till our life will demonstrate He's in control
This wondrous love, this wondrous love
This wondrous love, This wondrous love.

A friend of ours notified us to be praying for a family whose son committed suicide this wee. Our friend's son has has two friends who have opted out of life in the past few years. He is quiet about it, but I pray God will draw him close in this situation and that the family can come to know and bless god through all this tragedy.

The trip home was very fruitful in the song department. The music flowed as I drove down I-65 with my vocal chords blaring and the songs composing themselves. That is why I travel with a tape recorder . I hope to get a digital recorder soon- much easier to deal with - I miss the one I had at my last job.

Endless Sunrise

Into the endless sunrise
I ever look to the eastern skies
For his light ever dawns And I will look to see.
This endless sunrise within me.
Now Christ's endless glory fills my eyes
And his endless radiance will ever be my prize.
Though my eyes may dim, His glory still will blaze
And still the eyes of my heart shall be amazed!
As I lift up my head in endless praise.
For the joy of the cross
For the completion of your plan
Finishing your perfect work
Of reconciling God and man.
You laid down your life- you alone had that right
Then you took it up again and arose in radiant light!
And so that was not the end- so now it begins
Now that light still overwhelms my eyes
With that light I will shine when I arise
I will live in the light of your endless sunrise.
Into the endless sunrise
My soaring soul in rapture flies
Like a moth to the radiant flame I am drawn
To be swallowed up in an endless dawn.

Oh Perfect Love

Oh Perfect Love that casts out fear
Forgive our sins and draw us near.
For love covers a multitude of sins
And brings a chance to live again.
Sin will separate and deplete us
Within your Love you heal and keep us
For those Christ is given will persevere
Preserve and see us through
Redeem and make us new
Keep us safe in you until you appear!
We are poor in spirit and we mourn
As we meekly , gently bear these thorns.
We hunger and thirst for true righteousness
Persecuted, insulted, and yet we are blessed.
For the sake of our Lord
We rejoice in our reward
Exceedingly glad for joy unknown
For heaven is our home.
We are children of God we rejoice and are glad
Our reward is in heaven so we cannot be sad.
Oh Perfect Love that casts out fear
Forgive our sins and draw us near.
For love covers a multitude of sins
And brings a chance to live again.
Sin will separate and deplete us
Within your Love you heal and keep us
For those Christ is given will persevere
Preserve and see us through
Redeem and make us new
Keep us safe in you until you appear!
Oh Perfect Love
Oh Perfect Love
In our hearts abide
Oh Perfect Love
Take us above
Draw us to your side
