This last of the xbraced 914 ce guitars was purchased at Willcutt Guitars in Lexington KY after spending a day, along with my wife, playing and comparing high end guitars of various configuarions including selections from Bourgeois, Santa Cruz, and Martin, along with V-Class Taylors. It has high quality Sitka spruce for its soundboard and solid Indian rosewood back and sides complement the Sitka top. The rosewood on this one produces a strong bass response. It produces a sweeping frequency range deep lows that assert a throaty growl with sparkling highs rings out with bell-like, high fidelity clarity. It yields a full range acoustic voice with complex overtones and extended sustain- longer than any guitar I played. I even recorded G chords on all the ones I liked and this one sustained longest; my wife agreed this one was the best we tried and we took it home that day. It was built with custom-calibrated wood thicknesses and bracing for the Auditorium body shape, 3.5 mil finish thickness, protein glue (bracing and bridge), ebony armrest, paua/koa trim (on top, back, sides, fretboard/extension, peghead and armrest), single ring paua rosette edged with koa and ebony, abalone/pearl "Ascension" fingerboard inlay, ebony binding.
