Description

1998 Guild USA DV52 NTS (NT=natural top, S=satin finish neck)

Dreadnought acoustic guitar with a Natural nitrocellulose lacquer finish over a solid AAA Spruce top and solid Indian Rosewood back & sides. The V suffix denotes vintage, as this model features scalloped bracing which makes it much more responsive than most other guitars in the Guild D series and excellent for fingerstyle as well as flat picking. Produced from 1992 to 2001, the DV-52 is known by many for it's deep/rich solid Indian Rosewood & Spruce tone, and the late nineties models with the abalone sound hole ring(instead of herringbone) are said to be the best of the run. This instrument is stamped Oct 30, 1998 on the neck block. This instrument was made in Guild's legendary Westerly Rhode Island factory. The current least expensive new Guild USA dreadnought with scalloped bracing is the D40 Traditional (and it's Mahogany not Rosewood) lists for $3,000, so these vintage Westerly, Rhode Island guitars are really bargains. Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, dents & dings surface scratches & some mild weather checking in the nitrocellulose finish. One cleated crack and several dings. Overall the guitar has a cool look to it with a great vibe. with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Tuners are in perfect working condition. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine. The mahogany neck has a fairly slender overall depth.
