Contreras Model 3 Concert Classical Guitar from 1978 |
|
According to P. Manuel Contreras this is comparable to his Model 3 which retails new for about $4500. This is a medium to high level quality classical guitar. It was made in the Contreras workshop at Calle Mayor 80, Madrid. The guitar was hand-built under the by Manuel Contreras II before he took over the business in 1994 according to verification by Contreras in 2009 before he passed. Tuning machines were made by Kolb and are decorated with intricate engravings. Comes with a Cordoba hard shell humi-case with burgundy plush lining. This hand crafted guitar was built using solid Indian rosewood for the back and sides, a Brazilian cedar neck and a solid German spruce top. The binding and headstock cap are made using a dark toned rosewood. All of this adds up to a fantastic looking classical guitar. The guitar has a beautiful Contreras signature rosette. The overall condition of the guitar is good. It shows play wear on the soundboard and three prominent dings or gouges on the top. The entire guitar was carefully inspected, and skillfully touched up to remove any finish chips and scratches. This is a very elegant, full sounding guitar. |
